Michael Joseph Jackson, commonly known as the "King of Pop," was an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. He was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, the seventh of nine children in the Jackson family. Jackson began his music career as a child in the late 1960s, as a member of the Jackson 5, a group made up of him and his four older brothers. The group quickly rose to fame, and Jackson's talent as a singer and dancer soon became evident to the world.

In the 1970s, Jackson embarked on a solo career, releasing his first album, "Got to Be There," in 1972. The album featured the hit single "Rockin' Robin" and was a commercial success. He died on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50, from an overdose of propofol and benzodiazepine. His death was ruled a homicide, and his personal physician, Conrad Murray, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
